Landscape Institute Awards Winners 2001 "Urban Renaissance"

Stockport Crematorium Garden of Remembrance

Awarded the Robertson Prize in the 1986 Phoenix Awards. The project expresses the cultural, spiritual &biological aspects of death & mourning through imagery & elements such as Granite walls, Landform ,water & planting . These evoke, death mourning, rebirth & a sense of the emotional purity of grief through their form &spatial arrangement.

The project attempts to crystallise in physical form the conflicting implications of death and mourning in a way which transcends religious denominations.

The project was featured in articles in ‘Landscape Design’ 1989 and ‘the Landscape’ (New Zealand ) 1991
