The creation of a new ‘gateway’ at the junction of a Sustrans cycle way in Abbey Hey; East Manchester New cycle barriers and chicanes were installed picking up features of local interest-which included the locomotive industry which formed the area in the industrial revolution; references to the local park and fishing ponds and the adjacent Donkey Sanctuary.The intention was to display different aspects of the locality but within a consistent format.
The panels are fabricated from Cor-ten steel perforated with laser cut figures which reveal themselves at close quarters.
