SMLA have been apponted as Landscape Architectural consultants for Live wire in partnership with Warrington Borough Council and Torus housing. The building designed by Walker Simpson Architects in a bright contemporary form aims to bring together health, leisure , social activities and culture under one roof, with dance and exercise studios, a therapy pool , library and cafe and will create a high quality landmark in the area.
The centre is in a deprived area of Warrington but located next to Bewsey Meadows and attractive natural parkland area.The Landscape of the building attempts to blend with this landscape incorporating wetland panting such as Irises and Coppiced Willow .The external works are designed to guide people from the car park to the forecourt through a landscape of blossom trees with an open forecourt creating a forum for public events and activities outside the new building.
